Vulnerability Part 3: Beautiful Insecurities (2022) continued the exploration of vulnerability, this time through the lens of personal insecurity and self-acceptance. Drawing on my initial reasons of exploring vulnerability, I was inspired by how leaning into my perceived flaws and insecurities had a profound impact on my own acceptance of my body.

I wanted to use this space to explore these themes for other folx in the community.

This edition of the series captured photographs of over 52 individuals, and their personal stories of vulnerability and insecurities. By giving space for people to reflect on their own experiences of insecurities across their life, there was a shared understanding of how societal norms and values shape our understanding of beauty and self-worth.

Weaved throughout this project are personal poems from times where my insecurities were rife. Taking time to reflect on this was an integral part of this project and healing.

This project challenges us to reconsider what it means to be vulnerable and beautiful in a world that often celebrates perfection. It acknowledges the courage and strength found in embracing our imperfections, inviting participants and viewers alike to find empowerment through self-acceptance.
