Vulnerability (2020)

Vulnerability (2020), was the first edition of the ongoing community photographic series of the same title.

Vulnerability began as a way for me to explore my own connection to body image through the lens of nude portraiture. It all started with me taking film photographs of my body in the bedroom of my sharehouse. I was particularly interested in the features of myself that I often felt ashamed about; my rolls, my cellulite, the texture on my skin. I found that photographing them, and sharing them with people on the internet (through Instagram), helped relieve a lot of that shame for me.

It felt very vulnerable, but also SO powerful.

Thus, Vulnerability was born! The first edition of the series involved photographing 25 participants from Meanjin and surrounds. These photographs were then curated as part of a zine, which was shown and sold at Mayneline as part of their IWD event.

The feedback was incredible, so I quickly moved onto planning Vulnerability Part 2.
